Replacing bearings on a bridge in Zaandam
In November 2025, our team of WPE Drive Technology In Zaandam, two bearings were replaced on the Panama gear wheel of the Prins Alexander Bridge in Zaandam. Two mechanics assembled the necessary tools and hoisting equipment, after which the upper part of the bearing block and the flanges were dismantled, and the Panama wheel was hoisted to release the bearings. The old bearings were completely removed (outer ring ground through, inner cage and inner ring disassembled), the bearing block and shaft were cleaned and freed of old grease. Due to other work at the plant, the second bearing block was tackled on day three; despite the limited space, the bearing was also neatly dismantled and, using the attachment, installed, secured, and filled with grease.
We don't just supply the tools for the job, we also use them for our own maintenance and overhaul work. Let's just say we know exactly what's needed! That inspires confidence, doesn't it?
